Backend Engineer

• We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on Senior Backend Engineer based in Abuja to drive the design, development, optimization, and support of backend services, infrastructure, and integrations. • You will also oversee technical support activities, ensuring high system uptime and client satisfaction. • This is a leadership position requiring deep backendexpertise, proactive support management, architectural vision, and strong mentoring skills for junior team members. • *Key Responsibilities**

Back-End Engineering • Architect, design, build, andmaintainscalable, secure, and efficient backend systems and APIs. • Manage database design, optimization, and administration (SQL, NoSQL). • Integrate third-party APIs and services (especially in identity, verification, payment, and regulatory systems). • Implement security best practices (OAuth,OpenIDConnect, API security, encryption, etc.). • Optimizeperformance of services for high availability and low latency.

Technical Leadership • Set technical direction, standards, and best practices across backend and technical support functions. • Lead and mentor developers,providingtechnical guidance, code reviews, and career development support. • Define system architectures for new projects, ensuring modularity, scalability, and maintainability. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Business Analyst, Project Manager, UI/UX) to deliver robust solutions. • Oversee DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, cloud hosting, and system monitoring. • Identifytechnical debt and recommend strategic improvements.

Technical Support Oversight • Lead Tier 2/3 technical support, troubleshooting escalated backend/system issues, and delivering permanent solutions. • Develop technical documentation and FAQ materials to empower clients and internal support teams. • Monitor system health proactively and respond swiftly to incidents (downtime, bugs, performance degradation). • Interface with cloud providers and technical partners for escalated infrastructure issues. • Establish andmaintainmonitoring and alerting frameworks (e.g., Sentry,Datadog, New Relic). • *Required Skills and Qualifications** • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. • 5+ years of backend development experience (Node.js, Python, Go, Java, or equivalent). • Proven experience building scalable APIs and backend systems. • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). • Proficiencywith databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB,Redis). • Strong understanding of secure system design (IAM, encryption, cybersecurity best practices). • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines. • Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills. • Experience working in high-growthstartups,fintech,regtech, or identity/verification ecosystems is a plus. • Nice-to-Haves: • Knowledge ofblockchaintechnology, decentralized identity (DiD), or cryptographic systems. • Experience with message brokers (RabbitMQ, Kafka) andmicroservicesarchitecture. • Previousexposure to KYC, AML, and verification solutions integration. • Ability to write technical documentation and conduct knowledge transfer sessions. • *Why Join OneVERIFY?** • Lead technical innovation in digital identity across Africa. • Competitive compensation and benefits. • Health insurance and paid time off. • High-impact role with growth opportunities. • Work from Abuja in a vibrant, collaborative team environment. • *Method of Application**
