Backend Engineer (Bangalore)

About the Role

As a Backend Engineer at Runable, you’ll bridge AI and infrastructure to power our next-generation general automation platform. You’ll design and build the scalable services and orchestration layers that enable our multi-agent LLM systems to run reliably across desktop, browser, and mobile environments.

What You’ll Do

LLM & Agent Services:

• Integrate and optimize multi-agent workflows using LangChain, LangGraph, OpenAI SDK, or similar
• Implement custom task-orchestration logic for complex automation pipelines

Backend Development & Prototyping:

• Write production-grade APIs and microservices in Python, TypeScript, Go, or Rust
• Rapidly prototype new features while ensuring performance and reliability

Infrastructure & Orchestration:

• Design and maintain our orchestration layer (Kubernetes, Nomad, or equivalent)
• Optimize scheduling, scaling, and resource allocation for persistent agent instances

Networking & Remote Control:

• Build and tune stateful networking layers with Traefik, Envoy, and load-balancers
• Ensure high-performance VNC/remote-desktop connectivity for browser and mobile agents

Cloud & DevOps:

• Deploy and manage infrastructure on GCP, AWS, or Azure using Terraform/OpenTofu
• Author CI/CD pipelines for seamless delivery and rollback

Experimental Innovation (15–20% time):

• Explore cutting-edge LLM fine-tuning, memory architectures, and new agent frameworks

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of backend or infrastructure engineering experience
• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript, plus at least one of Go or Rust
• Hands-on experience with LLM frameworks (LangChain, OpenAI SDK, etc.) and multi-agent design
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes, Nomad, or similar orchestration tools
• Expertise in networking, load-balancers, and high-performance remote connections
• Familiarity with Terraform/OpenTofu, CI/CD, and cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure)
• Excited to work in-person from our Bangalore office in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

We aim to complete the process in 7 days, with feedback after each stage:

• 30-minute call with the CEO. Discuss your experience and alignment with our mission.
• Technical Interview with CTO(1 hour). Deep dive into orchestration, networking, and system programming.
• One day in-person hackathon (paid). Work on a project with our team and experience our culture firsthand.
• Final Call with the CEO. Address any remaining questions and discuss potential next steps.
