About the role

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Retirement Analyst to join our HR Data Analysis team. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing the integrity of our retirement programs. You will bridge the gap between financial analysis and plan administration, ensuring that our 401k, Pension, and Deferred Compensation plans are compliant, accurately funded, and optimized for our employees.

The ideal candidate brings a strong financial background and a proven track record of interpreting large datasets to drive strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Audit & Compliance

  • Perform weekly audits of payroll 401k deferral files against third-party administrator contribution files.
  • Audit Pension census data and review funding data to ensure total accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor all payroll deferrals and distributions to ensure timely funding to appropriate plans.

Financial Analysis & Forecasting

  • Analyze retirement plan spend to develop accurate financial forecasts.
  • Utilize actuarial tools and modeling to analyze retirement projections and funding strategies.
  • Partner with external actuarial teams to assess plan health and sustainability.

External Partner & Plan Management

  • Oversee relationships with Pension, 401k, and Deferred Compensation third-party administrators.
  • Coordinate quarterly Pension and Investment Committee Meetings.
  • Support plan changes and leverage HR Operations Shared Services to optimize the employee experience.

Risk & Issue Resolution

  • Proactively identify and resolve risks related to plan administration.
  • Act as a point of escalation for participant inquiries from third-party administrators.
  • Identify trends in data to provide actionable recommendations for risk mitigation.

Qualifications

Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years in retirement plan administration, pension consulting, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: High proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, retirement plan software, and actuarial modeling tools.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of ERISA, IRS, DOL, and PBGC rules.
  • Communication: Ability to present complex financial concepts to both internal teams and plan participants clearly.

Preferred

  • Professional certifications (EA, CPC, or similar).
  • Proven experience driving efficiencies in retirement plan management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for navigating sensitive or complex participant issues.
