The Collectif des Familles de Disparu.e.s en Algérie (CFDA) is an association created in Paris in 1999 whose main mission is to shed light on the fate of all persons who disappeared during the conflict in Algeria during the 1990s and to support the families of the disappeared. Its missions aim to establish the truth, fight against impunity, and obtain justice for the disappeared persons and their families.

To pursue its objectives, the CFDA conducts awareness-raising actions on human rights issues on both sides of the Mediterranean Sea, as the association is present in France and Algeria. The CFDA conducts national and international advocacy campaigns to continue the fight for Truth and Justice, and also works on other types of human rights violations that exist worldwide, such as freedoms of association, expression, and assembly.

The CFDA received a special mention for the French Republic's Human Rights Prize in 2006 and the ICIP prize in 2020. It is a member of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN), the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), and the Euro-Mediterranean Federation against Forced Disappearances (FEMED). The CFDA has observer status before the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR).

Availability

The office is open Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 6 pm. The volunteer can organize their time freely according to their availability. However, a certain regularity, even if light, is necessary to ensure the follow-up of the tasks entrusted to them.

Skills and Qualities

The ideal volunteer has first experience, even volunteer or associative, in the fields of human rights, international relations, or project management. Training in political science, international law, or related disciplines is desired. Good knowledge of the Algerian context is appreciated. The ability to work in a group, lead discussions, and experience with associative networks or civil society will be an asset.
