Role Description
This is a part-time, remote volunteer role based in Washington, DC, for a Board Treasurer. The Board Treasurer will oversee the organization's financial management, including budget preparation, financial reporting, and compliance with all applicable regulations. Responsibilities include maintaining transparent financial records, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and participating in board meetings to provide insights on financial matters. Additionally, the Board Treasurer will collaborate with other board members and staff to support the organization’s mission.
Qualifications
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Knowledge of compliance requirements and nonprofit accounting principles
- Experience in strategic planning and working with leadership teams
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial documentation
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with board members
- Experience in nonprofit governance or previous board service is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- Passion for advocating for and supporting communities impacted by the criminal-legal system
