Brivo Software Engineering Internship

About

This intern will join the Brivo Access development team, working directly under Billy Murphy and the Phoenix team. You'll contribute to real engineering work from day one — writing tests, addressing security issues, and improving the component library — while learning from daily standups, sprint planning, and the full agile development cycle.

Key Responsibilities

Specific daily and weekly assignments will be provided by the Phoenix team, and the intern will join the team’s daily meeting to report on status.

The intern is expected to participate in the development process that the team follows, including using the standard development tools / processes used at Brivo, and participating in recurring team meetings (daily stand ups, planning, review).

There are three specific tasks for this intern, in the following priority order.

• Increase test coverage across core projects
• Remediate existing security vulnerabilities
• Align component library with Figma Design System

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Pursuing or completing a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
• 1+ year(s) academic experience with software development programming languages (JavaScript preferred)
• Experience using AI tools such as Claude or Copilot is a bonus!
• Familiarity with AWS serverless lambda based development
• Understanding of web services and distributed systems
• Passionate coder and persistent problem solver
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
