Contemporaries Inc. is a government contracting firm seeking a Budget & Financial Analyst to support a federal client engagement through a long-term government contract.
This role will focus on budget management, financial planning, and cost control, supporting high-visibility financial operations within a structured, compliance-driven environment.
This position is ideal for a mid- to senior-level finance professional with experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and financial reporting within the private sector who is interested in applying those skills in a government contracting environment.
The Senior Budget & Financial Analyst will support day-to-day budget execution and financial oversight, including tracking expenses, managing forecasts, reconciling financial data, and providing actionable insights to leadership.
The role requires strong experience managing large budgets, financial reporting, and variance analysis, along with the ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and monitor budgets and forecasts to ensure alignment with program or project goals
- Track expenses, commitments, and financial performance, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Perform monthly and quarterly financial reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and driving resolution
- Conduct variance analysis, providing insights and recommendations to leadership
- Support financial planning activities, including forecasting and scenario modeling
- Partner with cross-functional teams (operations, procurement, leadership) to ensure financial alignment
- Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and presentations for stakeholders
- Monitor project or contract budgets, ensuring proper allocation and utilization of funds
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in budgeting, financial analysis, or FP&A within a private-sector or consulting environment, with the ability to translate those skills into a government contracting setting.
Candidates should demonstrate:
- 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or FP&A roles
- Strong experience with budget management, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Experience supporting large or complex budgets or projects
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, financial modeling)
- Experience with financial systems such as ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate financial data to non-financial stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
