Preparation Tips (If You’re Applying or Interviewing)
| Area | How to Prepare |
|---|---|
| Technical Knowledge | Review HVAC refrigerant handling (EPA 608), basic electrical codes (NEC), plumbing codes, and common building‑system schematics. Practice troubleshooting scenarios (e.g., “A building’s HVAC is tripping the fire alarm”). |
| CMMS Proficiency | If you have experience with a specific CMMS (e.g., FM:Systems, Maximo, iOffice), be ready to discuss how you kept data clean, generated reports, and used it for preventive‑maintenance scheduling. |
| Safety & HSEQ | Know the lockout/tagout steps, PPE requirements for each trade, and how you’ve contributed to a safety culture (e.g., leading a toolbox talk, conducting a 5S audit). |
| Vendor Management | Prepare examples of obtaining quotes, evaluating contractors, and overseeing their work while ensuring compliance and safety. |
| Soft Skills | Have stories that demonstrate clear communication with clients, conflict resolution, and teamwork across multiple service lines (hard, soft, operational). |
| Physical Stamina | Be ready to discuss how you stay fit for the physical demands (lifting, heights, long shifts). |
