We are seeking a qualified and motivated candidate to serve as a Drybulk Analyst at the company’s North American Headquarters in Glen Allen, Virginia. This position contributes to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing all tasks as follows:
Position Summary
The Drybulk Analyst is responsible for managing the operational and post‑fixture (postfix) activities for drybulk vessels fixed by K Line America, Inc (KAM). This role supports safe, efficient, and compliant vessel operations worldwide and serves as a key communication link between internal teams, vessel operators, and external maritime partners. The position also supports market analysis, reporting, and sales coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Post‑Fixture Management
- Assist with operational and postfix activities for drybulk contracts completed by KAM.
- Coordinate vessel movements, safety requirements, and voyage execution between vessel Masters, Chief Engineers, and internal vessel management teams.
- Coordinate with global K Line groups to assist with various voyage details including crew matters, vessel supplies, port requirements, government regulations, and operational restrictions.
Market Intelligence & Analysis
- Collect and distribute drybulk market intelligence from K Line companies, ship brokers, traders, operators, the Baltic Exchange, and other industry sources.
- Track, analyze, and maintain port disbursement accounts and port restriction data.
- Build and maintain a strong professional network within the global drybulk market.
Reporting & Administrative Support
- Prepare and maintain monthly commission reports and related invoices.
- Provide internal sales support and communication coverage when team leaders are traveling.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable speaking by phone and video with international counterparts.
- Professional, resilient communication style with the ability to handle rejection and resolve differences diplomatically.
- Prior experience or working knowledge of the drybulk or maritime industry (commercial or operational) preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly:
- Excel (analysis, charts, graphs)
- Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Excellent time management and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑changing global market.
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including:
- Taking calls from vessels at any time
- Participating in meetings during Asian and European business hours
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for sales, marketing, training, and strategy meetings.
- Team‑oriented mindset with strong personal drive and initiative.
- Four‑year college degree with analytical/technical/STEM background strongly preferred but not required.
