About the Role
The Senior Business Analyst works in a lead capacity with Project Control team members, Amtrak business partners, and other IT organizations to align technology solutions and/or processes with Information Technology and business strategies. S/he is responsible for interfacing with stakeholders to collect, analyze, and document functional business requirements for highly complex business problems requiring design or integration of technical solutions.
The BA will report to the Sr. Manager, Project Controls. S/he will provide analytical support for Enterprise Network Engineering & Convergence (ENEC) Capital Intake Program, ENEC Portfolio Automation and Visualization project, and support the needs of the Wayside Connectivity, Network Data Services, and Passenger Information Display Systems (PIDS) verticals within ENEC.
The BA will need to be flexible and learn about the various ENEC verticals. S/he will interface routinely with various Technical SMEs, project team members, outside managed services providers, Contractors, IT & business stakeholders, and Amtrak leadership. The role will also need to gain familiarity with how each vertical operates and how it related to Project Controls.
Responsibilities
- Works in a lead capacity with Project Control team members, Amtrak business partners, and other IT organizations to align technology solutions and/or processes with Information Technology and business strategies.
- Interfaces with stakeholders to collect, analyze, and document functional business requirements for highly complex business problems requiring design or integration of technical solutions.
- Provides analytical support for Enterprise Network Engineering & Convergence (ENEC) Capital Intake Program, ENEC Portfolio Automation and Visualization project, and support the needs of the Wayside Connectivity, Network Data Services, and Passenger Information Display Systems (PIDS) verticals within ENEC.
- Leverages Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement methodologies to solve complex problems.
- Works to develop business process diagrams to draft the future state of core business processes in support of Capital Intake.
- Responsible for socializing with both internal and external customers the vision of the ENEC Capital Intake process and key responsibilities as defined of the RASCI.
- Interfaces routinely with various Technical SMEs, project team members, outside managed services providers, Contractors, IT & business stakeholders, and Amtrak leadership.
- Needs to gain familiarity with how each vertical operates and how it relates to Project Controls.
Qualifications
- Must be organized, self-directed, and very detail oriented.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and be capable of juggling competing priorities.
- Requires expert-level business analysis experience working as a practitioner and a strong delivery focus.
- Should be well-versed in BABOK standard terminology and guidelines governing business analysis best practices.
- Familiar with general concepts related to working within a Service-Oriented Organization (e.g., ITIL), Lean Six Sigma, and CMMI.
