About the role
Key Responsibilities — Business Analyst
- Collaborate with developers to review requirements, define estimates, and create development tickets for tracking.
- Perform data analysis to ensure the quality of data deliverables, including basic SQL queries (select/update) to validate what end users are seeing.
- Work closely with data owners and stewards to keep scope and requirements up to date.
- Produce Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), share with stakeholders, gather feedback, and iterate.
- Perform testing to support software releases.
Key Responsibilities — Project Manager
- Lead scoping and requirements discussions with internal stakeholders on benchmarks.
- Launch the project formally — send the kickoff communication, schedule stakeholder meetings, set expectations, and drive the agenda.
- Partner with business and technical owners to communicate the project plan and track delivery against it.
- Manage regular reviews of project status, deliverables and issues with tech leads and business stakeholders.
- Produce written call summaries and weekly status updates for upper management after every significant meeting.
- Configure and manage access levels to the benchmark application by user group and data domain (e.g., Boston vs. New York entitlements).
- Coordinate project releases, stakeholder training, and internal communications.
- Ensure all actionable items are tracked as Jira tickets or in Confluence.
- Help guide the team in adopting and adhering to Agile/Scrum best practices and principles.
- Foster collaboration within the team and across departments to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
- Act as a servant leader to empower the team and support their growth and productivity.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Expertise in stakeholder management — the ability to influence and work closely with senior stakeholders and drive toward solutions and buy-in.
- Self-directed operator who can launch a project, set expectations, and run it without close supervision.
- Strong understanding of relational database technologies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including producing clear BRDs, meeting summaries, and status updates.
- Experience working with FactSet benchmark data and State Street benchmark data.
Required Skills
- Working knowledge of SQL for data analysis (basic select and update queries).
- Expertise in financial benchmark data.
- Proven experience showing deep understanding of master data management challenges in large financial firms (specifically Asset Management) and track record of designing and implementing solutions in this space.
- Expertise in data governance, including data access entitlements defined by data owners and regulatory considerations.
- Professional experience actively managing the relationship with data owners, data stewards, data engineers, data analysts, business users to carefully define requirements and lead the project to meet expectations.
- Expertise in project management and project governance, with proven experience launching and delivering projects from kickoff to release.
- Proficiency with Jira and Confluence.
Desired Skills
- 10+ years professional experience in financial services or asset management.
- High-level familiarity with cloud-hosted applications and technologies.
- Experience working in both Agile and waterfall project environments.
- Ability to work independently, knowing when to escalate issues as appropriate.
- Accountability and willingness to be proactive in learning and improving the quality of deliverables and efficiency of processes.
