Business Analyst - Retail Energy

Position Overview

This role involves analysis, design, and consulting support while bridging the gap between user functionality and technical teams. You will work closely with clients to understand their strategic direction, document business architectures, and translate requirements into IT solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, facilitate, document, and participate in client meetings/workshops for structured gathering, research, and analysis.
• Develop and evaluate procedures, controls, user requirements, and functional specifications to identify gaps between current and future states.
• Create business requirement documents (BRD's) and transform them into use cases/functional specifications for customization.
• Gather requirements, define functional requirements and user stories, and document business/data/application/technology architectures and rules.
• Design business process models, logical data models, and provide standards and guidance.
• Document, explain, and resolve software defects ensuring technical compatibility and end-user satisfaction.
• Analyze, develop, and propose enhancements to existing business processes, reports, and applications to optimize system effectiveness.
• Conduct customer interviews and produce meeting summaries.
• Perform market/client research and industry analysis of requirements.
• Produce high-quality verbal and written consulting deliverables, including proposals, presentations, and reports, to effectively communicate project findings.
• Generate re-usable intellectual capital in the form of consulting methodologies, templates, blueprints, and business cases.
• Support basic scripting and project planning efforts.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of Business Analyst experience.
• Retail Energy experience such as CIS/Billing, EDI, Customer Care, Sales, and C&I/Mass Market products (must have).
• Solid Business Analyst skills with experience interviewing client executives and documenting business requirements and process mapping.
• Strong presentation skills with extensive experience writing successful project proposals and executing related projects.
• Demonstrated project management abilities.
• Bachelor's degree required; major in MIS, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Business or Financial Engineering preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in wholesale, settlements, utilities, or trading.
• Experience working for a management consulting firm.
• An advanced degree is desirable.
