Hecker Fink LLP is seeking a Business Development and Marketing Manager to help drive and execute a broad range of firm and attorney marketing and business development activities across our three offices in New York, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles.

Reporting to the Director of Business Development and Marketing, this position is an exciting opportunity for an individual seeking to play a central role in supporting the firm’s business development and marketing strategy in an inclusive workplace where lawyers and business operations professionals from diverse backgrounds feel valued, supported, and empowered to contribute, lead, and achieve their maximum potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Director of Business Development and Marketing to advance and continuously refine a proactive marketing and business development program that supports firmwide strategic priorities.
  • Support the development, tracking, and execution of individual attorney business development plans, including tracking outreach, follow-ups, and results, and ensuring milestones are aligned with the firm’s strategic goals.
  • Leverage AI, CRM data, and reporting tools to improve efficiency, insight, and impact across marketing, business development, and awards processes.
  • Maintain and monitor business development activity through the firm’s CRM platform by supporting user onboarding, reinforcing data standards and required fields, troubleshooting common issues, and producing meaningful reporting (including dashboards, as available) to improve data integrity and drive adoption.
  • Partner with the Director to develop strategic, customized, and compelling pitch materials, capability statements, and RFP responses tailored to specific client opportunities.
  • Develop, maintain, and regularly update marketing collateral, website content, practice descriptions, attorney bios, and other client-facing materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with current priorities.
  • Conduct targeted business development, client, and competitive research, including use of data analytics and AI-enabled research tools, to generate actionable insights and support strategic outreach efforts.
  • Lead the preparation, coordination, and submission of legal directories and industry awards, including Chambers, Legal 500, Benchmark Litigation, and other relevant recognitions.
  • Oversee and manage department projects with clearly defined deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements; track progress against goals, surface risks early, and communicate regularly with stakeholders.
  • Support the team in managing the strategic and logistical aspects of attorney integration, including onboarding materials, internal communications, and external positioning.
  • Collaborate with the team on the planning and execution of internal and external events, including invitation strategy, collateral development, attendee tracking, on-site execution, and post-event follow-up.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend sponsorship, speaking, and visibility opportunities that align with firm priorities and strengthen market profile.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a combination of employment, educational, and life experience that demonstrates the qualities and skills below:

  • Education and Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of prior law firm business development and marketing experience, preferably supporting litigation teams, is highly desirable. Bachelor’s degree required. J.D. or advanced degree a plus.
  • Knowledge and Skills: You have a working knowledge of CRM systems (hands-on experience with InterAction+ a plus). You are familiar with event planning procedures and logistics. You have advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, web editing, and email marketing software. You demonstrate comfort using AI-enabled tools for research, drafting, analysis, and process optimization, with an understanding of responsible and confidential use in a law firm environment.
  • Clear Communication and Attention to Detail: You have outstanding communication skills, excel in both written and oral communication, and are able to develop strong relationships with attorneys and professionals at all levels, both internally and externally. You proactively communicate the status of your work and share updates with colleagues when necessary. You ensure that your work is mistake-free. You have excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ownership, Initiative, and Teamwork: You are a dedicated self-starter who takes ownership of your projects and follows through on their completion. You proactively anticipate, communicate, and work independently and resourcefully to resolve obstacles you encounter in your work. You possess a strong customer-service orientation and ability to work well within a team as well as the ability to be a brand champion.
  • Organization and Project Management: You are comfortable balancing tasks of varying levels of urgency and complexity. You work well under pressure and can meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Flexibility: You are flexible and available after hours and to work overtime as needed. You are comfortable in an environment where your responsibilities may vary from day to day. You demonstrate a "no job too big, no job too small" attitude and take a collaborative, team-focused approach to juggling priorities and contributing to tasks across the firm.
  • Confidentiality: You must be able to adhere to firm policies regarding the protection of confidential data and demonstrate sensitivity to (and good judgment in connection with) confidential attorney, personnel, and firm matters.

In addition, the successful candidate will be based in the New York area or willing to relocate and will be available to work 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is a hybrid position.

Compensation:

The expected base salary for this role ranges from $150,000 - $180,000 and is dependent on experience.
