Role Overview – Business Development Director
Reporting to senior leadership, the Business Development Director will develop and execute strategies to win new business and expand existing accounts across the U.S. federal market. The role combines strategic planning, relationship management, proposal leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver predictable revenue growth. You will act as a trusted advisor to prospective clients, articulate Vidoori’s value proposition, and guide opportunities through the sales lifecycle to successful contract closure.
Key Responsibilities – Sales Strategy, Client Acquisition, And Account Growth
- Develop and implement go-to-market and account-based strategies aligned with company objectives and market opportunities.
- Identify, pursue, and qualify new business opportunities across target sectors, leveraging market research and industry networks.
- Build and maintain strong executive-level relationships with prospective and existing clients, understanding their strategic priorities and challenges.
- Lead and support the response to complex proposals and tender processes, coordinating cross-functional teams (sales, delivery, legal, finance, and solution architecture) to produce compelling business and technical submissions.
- Own the sales pipeline and forecasting, ensuring accurate opportunity progression, deal economics, and timely reporting to leadership.
- Negotiate business terms and contractual arrangements in partnership with legal and finance teams to secure profitable outcomes.
- Collaborate with marketing and product teams to develop targeted campaigns, thought leadership, and sales enablement materials that resonate with buyer personas.
- Mentor and coach junior business staff, sharing best practices and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in client interactions and team development.
Essential Skills and Experience – Strategic Selling, Relationship Management, and Business Acumen
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven track record (typically 7+ years) in business development or senior sales roles within technology, cloud, or software services organizations.
- Strong experience managing complex government sales cycles, including solution selling, executive stakeholder engagement, and business negotiation.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to convey technical and business value clearly to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrable ability to develop strategic account plans, build pipeline, and meet or exceed revenue targets.
- Financial literacy with experience assessing deal profitability, pricing models, and business risk.
- Comfortable working in a matrixed, collaborative environment with delivery and technical teams to shape proposals and offers.
Desirable Skills – Market Insight, Partnerships, And Sales Operations
- Knowledge of cloud, software development, and digital transformation services and common buyer outcomes in these areas.
- Experience with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) and familiarity with sales analytics and forecasting tools.
- Existing industry network and relationships within target sectors or enterprise accounts including Dept. of Veterans Affairs, IRS, HHS, DHS, etc.
- Background in managing partner or alliance relationships to drive joint go-to-market initiatives.
- Experience contributing to thought leadership, market positioning, or speaking at industry events.
