An established specialist in the power and high‑voltage engineering sector is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager / Sales Engineer to drive growth across key utility, industrial, and infrastructure customers.

This role is ideal for a technically strong sales professional who thrives on building long‑term customer relationships, closing complex solutions‑based deals, and engaging directly with clients at both technical and commercial levels.

Key Accountabilities

  • Drive a strong and sustainable sales pipeline
  • Achieve order‑intake and revenue growth targets
  • Build, develop, and maintain long‑term customer relationships through regular engagement

Key Responsibilities

  • Diversify the customer base and grow market presence across Substation Automation, Protection & Control, Transformer Monitoring & Diagnostics, and Electrical SCADA / ADMS & Grid Monitoring solutions
  • Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities with existing and new customers
  • Compile quotations, tenders, and solution proposals within required timelines
  • Communicate efficiently with customers and all internal sales and proposal stakeholders
  • Follow up on back orders and proactively manage customer expectations regarding delays
  • Provide continuous feedback to customers on the progress of orders
  • Prepare and deliver technical and commercial presentations
  • Support customers with vendor registrations and credit applications
  • Vet orders and initiate registration of new material codes within ERP systems
  • Liaise with customers regarding payment terms (e.g. COD arrangements)
  • Respond to technical queries, assess project feasibility, and conduct regular site visits
  • Interface closely with engineering teams to align customer requirements and specifications
  • Utilise CRM, ERP, and other sales tools effectively
  • Support the development of sales and marketing material

Qualifications

Essential

  • Matric Certificate
  • Engineering Degree or Engineering Diploma

Preferred

  • Proposals Management training
  • Sales and Business Development training

Experience Required

  • 5+ years’ experience in sales, marketing, or application engineering within:
    • Protection & Control systems
    • Substation Automation
    • SCADA / ADMS & Grid Monitoring solutions
  • Strong technical knowledge of power systems and substation applications
  • Proven ability to sell complex, engineered solutions
  • Ongoing participation in relevant sales and technical training
