Who We Are

Habitat for Humanity GTA is greater Toronto’s most recognized provider and advocate of solutions that tackle our region’s housing crisis. Our mission is to create a world where everyone has a safe, quality place to live. We focus on creative solutions to address the affordable housing crisis in Toronto, Brampton, Caledon, York Region and Durham Region. With the help of volunteers, donors and community partners, we unlock change for generations by bringing the benefits of home ownership to more people and communities. Since 1988, Habitat GTA has built 23 new communities, empowering more than 500 families.

Habitat ReStore is a chain of non-profit home improvement retail stores with 8 locations across the Greater Toronto Area, owned and operated by Habitat for Humanity GTA. We sell home furnishings, appliances, and other renovation materials at a fraction of the price. Our items are donated from businesses and individuals and undergo inspection and testing to ensure they meet our high-quality standards.

Habitat GTA is growing. We are an innovative, entrepreneurial social enterprise that has been increasing our capacity for impact each and every year. Together, we are building a better, more inclusive GTA for everyone.

What You Will Do

• Represent Habitat for Humanity GTA as a Brand Ambassador by modeling our values and guiding principles
• Represent Habitat for Humanity GTA as a Brand Ambassador by modeling our values and guiding principles
• Learn, understand and participate in the Health and Safety Program
• Upload new products to the website, including titles, descriptions, photos, pricing, tags, and categories.
• Ensure all product information is correct, consistent, and optimized for SEO and customer clarity.
• Monitor stock levels and update product availability, pricing changes, and discontinued items.
• Organize products into collections, featured categories, and promotional pages for seasonal campaigns.
• Review product pages regularly for errors, inconsistencies, or outdated content.
• Work with marketing to support campaigns, promotions, and email features.
• Coordinate with operations/warehouse for product status and updates.
• Support retail teams with product info and promotions.
• Assist with customer inquiries to ensure a smooth shopping experience.
• Using proper lifting techniques and tools.
• Maintain a clean and professional image
• Communicate clearly and professionally with team members
• Treat donated items with care and respect, recognizing their value to the donor and Habitat for Humanity.
• Receive, store, and organize materials in the warehouse.
• Prepare orders for delivery or internal use, including staging and labeling.
• Operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts) where certified.
• Report any equipment, or product damage immediately to supervisor
• Assist with cleaning, pricing items for online catalogue
• Any additional duties as required

Skills and Qualifications

• One year or More experience in Retail
• Must be Fluent in English
• Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident

Training/Supervision Plan

The position will be mentored by experienced ReStore Store Manager & Assistant Store Manager

The supervisor/designate holds morning huddles with store staff and occasional volunteers: The student will shadow team members throughout the day to learn hands on tasks

• Discuss the daily sales goal
• The Manager holds daily huddles:
  • Discuss the day’s e-commerce posting numbers
  • Discuss on how to process online orders, handling customer inquiries, managing returns and exchanges
  • Discuss day to day online managing campaigns and optimizing product listings
