Our client is looking for a Capacity Planner who will play a key supporting role in the development and execution of capacity planning within their large manufacturing environment. Working closely with senior planners and cross-functional teams, this position contributes to aligning design, operations, and production requirements through detailed analysis and planning support. The role offers exposure to complex planning challenges, including layout validation, block movement coordination, and capacity optimization, while building foundational expertise in industrial planning and data-driven decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and maintenance of capacity plans for ongoing projects under the guidance of senior planners
- Review and validate block layouts, orientations, and workstation configurations using AutoCAD and 3D model viewer tools
- Assist in analyzing technical drawings (e.g., lift-and-turn plans, pin jig designs, workstation layouts) to ensure feasibility and operational alignment
- Contribute to planning activities related to crane accessibility, material flow, and block movement across workstations
- Support yard capacity assessments, including footprint planning, storage optimization, and buffer management
- Extract, analyze, and interpret data to identify capacity constraints and support planning decisions
Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business (MBA), or a related technical field
- 0–3 years of experience in industrial planning, manufacturing, shipbuilding, or a similar environment
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and experience interpreting technical drawings; familiarity with 3D model viewer tools is an asset
- Basic understanding of production planning principles and performance metrics (e.g., KPIs related to capacity and throughput)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Additional Information
- Pay: $36-44 per/hour depending on experience
- 12 month contract with the possibility to extend
- 5 days per week on-site in North Vancouver, BC
