About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Capital Project Engineer with strong CAPEX project delivery experience in food manufacturing environments.
This role will lead large-scale plant modernization and equipment upgrade initiatives, managing projects end-to-end—from design and planning through commissioning and operational handover. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing, packaging systems, and production optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee installation, validation, and commissioning of manufacturing and packaging equipment
- Develop detailed project scopes, budgets, schedules, and technical specifications
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to improve efficiency, uptime, and throughput
- Manage vendors, contractors, and system integrators to ensure successful project delivery
- Ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory standards (HACCP, FDA, USDA where applicable)
- Troubleshoot process, equipment, and production issues within plant environments
- Support plant layout design, line optimization, and capacity planning
- Maintain engineering documentation including P&IDs, SOPs, and technical drawings
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 15+ years of experience in capital project engineering within manufacturing environments
- Strong experience in food manufacturing, food processing, or CPG production environments
- Hands‑on knowledge of manufacturing equipment, automation, and production systems
- Experience working in regulated environments with food safety compliance standards
- Strong project management, stakeholder communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with high‑speed packaging lines (filling, capping, labeling, palletizing, conveying)
- Exposure to brownfield projects, utilities, and facility modifications
- Experience relocating or reconfiguring large‑scale production equipment
- Knowledge of sanitary design and hygienic equipment standards
- Experience managing multiple projects in fast‑paced production environments
Tools & Technologies
- Project Tools: MS Project, Smartsheet, Primavera P6
- Quality & Compliance: HACCP, FDA/USDA frameworks, QMS tools
