Senior Capital Project Engineer – Food Manufacturing (CAPEX)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Capital Project Engineer with strong CAPEX project delivery experience in food manufacturing environments.

This role will lead large-scale plant modernization and equipment upgrade initiatives, managing projects end-to-end—from design and planning through commissioning and operational handover. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing, packaging systems, and production optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee installation, validation, and commissioning of manufacturing and packaging equipment
• Develop detailed project scopes, budgets, schedules, and technical specifications
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to improve efficiency, uptime, and throughput
• Manage vendors, contractors, and system integrators to ensure successful project delivery
• Ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory standards (HACCP, FDA, USDA where applicable)
• Troubleshoot process, equipment, and production issues within plant environments
• Support plant layout design, line optimization, and capacity planning
• Maintain engineering documentation including P&IDs, SOPs, and technical drawings

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field
• 15+ years of experience in capital project engineering within manufacturing environments
• Strong experience in food manufacturing, food processing, or CPG production environments
• Hands‑on knowledge of manufacturing equipment, automation, and production systems
• Experience working in regulated environments with food safety compliance standards
• Strong project management, stakeholder communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience with high‑speed packaging lines (filling, capping, labeling, palletizing, conveying)
• Exposure to brownfield projects, utilities, and facility modifications
• Experience relocating or reconfiguring large‑scale production equipment
• Knowledge of sanitary design and hygienic equipment standards
• Experience managing multiple projects in fast‑paced production environments
