The Vendor Management Senior Analyst/Assistant Manager (Commercial & PMO) will play a critical role within the VMO Centre of Excellence, focusing on the financial and project management aspects of vendors in both BAU and projects. This position is responsible for providing robust analysis of vendor spend, tracking and reporting on realised savings, and supporting the effective delivery of vendor-related projects and initiatives through PMO activities. The role will ensure data‑driven insights inform strategic vendor decisions and contribute to the overall efficiency and value generation of the VMO.
Work you’ll do
Spend Data Analysis & Reporting
- Support the collection, consolidation and analysis of vendor spend data from various sources to identify trends, opportunities for cost optimisation, and areas of non‑compliance.
- Support the development and maintenance of comprehensive spend dashboards and reports, providing actionable insights to VMO leadership and business stakeholders.
- Conduct deep‑dive analysis into specific vendor categories or contracts to support negotiation strategies and identify potential savings supporting the wider VM / VMO team.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity across all vendor spend reporting.
Savings Tracking & Validation
- Establish and maintain a robust methodology for tracking, validating, and reporting on savings.
- Work closely with procurement, finance, and business units to quantify and verify realised savings against agreed targets (i.e. value capture or consumption reduction).
PMO Support for Vendor Initiatives
- Provide Project Management Office (PMO) support for key vendor management initiatives.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of project plans, timelines, and resource allocation for VMO projects and sourcing council.
- Facilitate communication and reporting on project status to relevant stakeholders.
Process Improvement & Tooling
- Support creation new and review of existing processes to map VMO activities based on VMO services offering framework.
- Support the evaluation and implementation of tools and technologies to improve VMO efficiency in commercial and PMO functions.
Experience
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Proven experience (e.g., 3‑ 8 years) in data analysis and reporting, ideally within a procurement, finance, or vendor management environment.
- Spend Management: Demonstrable experience in collecting, consolidating, and analysing large datasets to identify trends, cost optimisation opportunities, and areas of non‑compliance.
- Project Support (PMO): Exposure to Project Management Office (PMO) functions, including supporting project planning, monitoring progress and savings tracking, and risk identification.
- Process Improvement: Experience in supporting the creation, review, and improvement of operational processes, preferably within a commercial or VMO context.
- Tooling & Technology: Familiarity with evaluating and implementing tools and technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
The key skills required
- Analytical Acumen: Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to conduct deep‑dive analysis, interpret complex data, and translate findings into actionable insights.
- Data Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential. Experience with data visualisation and reporting tools such as Power BI is desirable.
- Financial Understanding: Solid understanding of financial concepts related to cost savings, value capture, and budget management.
- Project Management Fundamentals: Basic understanding of project management principles and methodologies, with the ability to assist in project planning, tracking, and communication.
- Process Orientation: Strong ability to understand, document, and improve business processes.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to VMO leadership and business stakeholders.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
