Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Own Brand Product Development, you will be responsible for the development of cosmetic products. You will participate in the definition and development of the own brand with projects on different axes: makeup, skincare, and hair care, for the Marionnaud Group in order to improve its performance and profitability. As such, within a small team of enthusiasts working in a start-up mode, your missions will encompass several functions with a key 360° role on your product ranges. You will be responsible for development from the finalization of the brief to the delivery of products to the warehouse. You will also play a purchasing role for commitments with suppliers and a guardian of profitability internally and externally. As your function is central within the own brand, you will be in contact with several departments of the company and will have to take the lead to ensure the smooth running of the development and supply of your product ranges.

Product Development Management

  • Be in close contact with the marketing team for the conception and validation of new briefs (feasibility study/timings)
  • Manage calls for tender from suppliers (Preparation of specifications and supplier selection)
  • Provide technical support to marketing teams in project execution (formulation, shade matching, packaging)

Planning and Project Management

  • Establish backward schedules and monitor projects using implemented tools (project monitoring matrix)
  • Coordinate all project stakeholders for the smooth running of the stages and be proactive in case of schedule deviations
  • Act as the technical liaison between the regulatory/marketing department and suppliers regarding formulas, packaging, and cosmetic/technical tests.

Purchasing and Logistics

  • Negotiate prices with suppliers
  • Manage contracts in conjunction with the legal department
  • Launch purchase orders with suppliers
  • Monitor costs & MOQs and ensure compliance with development cost budgets
  • Model project profitability and present to management for validation
  • Prepare referencing matrices and monitor the sending of POs
  • Follow up on replenishment to adjust MOQs, prices, and deadlines

Product Lifecycle

  • Monitor ranges throughout their lifecycle (monitoring updates to be made following regulatory or quality changes or marketing requests)

Competitive Intelligence

  • Actively monitor new products (ingredients, formulas, packaging) to propose innovative solutions;
  • Visit cosmetic trade shows in Europe & meet new suppliers to expand the subcontractor portfolio

Candidate Profile

  • You hold a Master's degree (Bac+5) from a scientific university (biology or chemistry) or an Engineering School and/or a Business School with a specialization in project management. You have at least 8 years of professional experience in product development within a brand or a distributor. Knowledge of the beauty sector is a real asset.
  • You know how to rally different stakeholders around common objectives and manage priorities.
  • You are fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking) and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and PowerPoint). Daily exchanges with Europe and Asia are to be expected.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and a good team spirit.
  • You know how to manage priorities to meet deadlines.
  • You are autonomous, highly organized, proactive, a solution-finder, comfortable with numbers, and detail-oriented.
