About the Role

WellD CH is looking for a Senior Backend Developer (Java/Kotlin) to join its dev team in Lugano. You will work on a mission‑critical project where your contributions directly impact client success and software quality. This role offers opportunities to share expertise, participate in knowledge‑sharing initiatives, and help shape how our solutions deliver real value.

Where You’ll Work

The position is based in Southern Switzerland with a hybrid on‑site/remote setup: 4 days per week in the office and 1 day working remotely. While we value flexibility, our priority remains our clients and teams. Remote work policies may change in accordance with Swiss and cross‑border legislation.

What Tech We Use

Our main tech stack includes Java/Kotlin, TypeScript, ReactJS, and React Native. We version our projects on GitLab and rely heavily on Docker for development and CI/CD.

How We Conceive Software Dev

We promote Agile Development with a formal process that includes code reviews, pair programming, and continuous delivery. We care about software quality and maintain a proper methodology/pipeline. We design before we code and actively contribute to open source and knowledge sharing through our tech blog.

To Whom We Deliver

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand client requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Develop scalable backend solutions using Java, ensuring seamless integration with frontend technologies.
• Implement and manage DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment with Docker.
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming sessions, and knowledge‑sharing activities to maintain high software quality standards.
• Deliver high‑impact solutions for the project and mentor peers.
• Share expertise through our tech blog and community events.

What We're Looking For

• Solid understanding of the Java or Kotlin ecosystem with backend development experience.
• Proficiency in DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment.
• Familiarity with frontend technologies such as React or similar frameworks.
• Proactive problem‑solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Continuous desire to learn and improve in a fast‑paced environment.
• Fluency in Italian and English.
