CHIEF ENGINEER

THE ELENE IS SEEKING A CHIEF ENGINEER. We're looking for an experienced engineering leader who is ready to build something from the ground up. Pre-opening or new construction experience in a hotel or resort setting is a strong plus. This is a hands-on leadership role at a boutique luxury property. The right candidate is technically strong, comfortable working independently, and takes pride in a building that runs flawlessly. Schedule varies based on business needs including weekends and holidays. On-call availability required for after-hours emergencies affecting guest experience or property safety.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, and integrity of The Elene's physical plant. This includes all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, life safety, and building systems across the 50-room luxury resort and its amenity spaces. The role leads a small engineering team and manages relationships with contracted vendors and service providers to ensure the property is safe, well-maintained, and operating at the standard of a luxury resort with an Average Daily Rate exceeding $900.

This is a hands-on leadership role. The Chief Engineer is expected to be present on property, know the building deeply, and be capable of both directing the work and getting into it when needed. Equally important is the ability to manage preventive maintenance schedules, capital project coordination, and vendor relationships with the same rigor applied to the physical work itself.
