Lead the engineering team as Chief Engineer with Northumberland Ferries, either based in Caribou, Nova Scotia or Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island. This full-time role focuses on vessel operations and safety compliance.

In this critical position, you will provide vital leadership within the engineering department while managing maintenance and compliance on vessels. Experience with pollution regulations, safety management systems, and preventive maintenance are essential. You will also train recruits, oversee crew schedules, and ensure adherence to company policies.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering personnel and supervise engine room crew
• Manage vessel planned maintenance and spare parts inventory
• Ensure compliance with safety and pollution regulations
• Enforce workplace safety policies and procedures
• Track and address deficiencies and repairs

Requirements

• 1st or 2nd Class Motor Certificate required
• Valid Seafarers Medical Certificate and relevant CoC certifications
• Proven leadership and supervisory skills
• Strong verbal and written communication capabilities
• Ability to work in confined spaces and independently
