We are actively hiring multiple Senior‑level, PE‑licensed Civil Engineers to support a growing transportation and infrastructure portfolio across North and South Carolina. These roles span roadway, rail, and bridge/structural engineering, supporting high‑profile DOT, municipal, and transit projects throughout the Carolinas.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced engineers who enjoy technical leadership, mentoring, and delivering complex projects from early design through final signed and sealed plans.
Target Disciplines
We are hiring senior professionals with expertise in one or more of the following:
- Roadway / Transportation Engineering (Highways, Interchanges, Complete Streets, Bike/Ped)
- Rail & Transit Engineering (Light Rail, Track Alignment, Stations, Heavy Civil Rail)
- Structural / Bridge Engineering (Highway & Rail Bridges, Seismic, Load Rating, Rehab)
What You’ll Do
Depending on discipline and background, responsibilities may include:
- Lead civil engineering design for complex transportation or infrastructure projects
- Advance plans from ~25% design through final, signed and sealed deliverables
- Serve as a technical lead or subject matter expert within your discipline
- Provide QA/QC oversight and ensure compliance with DOT and client standards
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (roadway, structures, rail, drainage, traffic, utilities)
- Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers
- Participate in client meetings, proposals, and project planning
- Support construction phases through RFIs, submittals, and field coordination (as applicable)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred for some roles)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (NC or SC required; multi‑state a plus)
- 7–12+ years of progressive civil engineering experience (role‑dependent)
- Strong background in transportation, rail, or structural/bridge engineering
- Experience delivering projects with limited technical oversight
- Proficiency with common tools such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, OpenRail, or Civil 3D (discipline‑dependent)
- Strong communication skills and comfort in client‑facing environments
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead technical teams
Nice to Have
- Experience working with NCDOT, SCDOT, or local municipalities
- Design‑Build or Alternative Delivery experience
- Project management or task‑lead experience (budgets, schedules, staffing)
- Business development or proposal involvement
- Rail engineers: AREMA / FRA exposure
- Bridge engineers: seismic analysis, load rating, OpenBridge, or NBIS exposure
