Civil Engineer - Geotechnical Specialist

Our client, a renowned engineering and construction firm, is seeking a talented and experienced Civil Engineer with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering to join their established team in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, ZA . This role is critical to the successful planning, design, and execution of a wide range of infrastructure and building projects. You will be responsible for conducting site investigations, analyzing soil and rock conditions, and providing expert recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring the safety and stability of structures and developments. Key responsibilities include: planning and supervising geotechnical investigations (e.g., boreholes, trial pits, in-situ testing), interpreting geotechnical data and preparing comprehensive geotechnical reports, designing foundations (shallow and deep), retaining structures, and earthworks, performing stability analyses, ensuring compliance with relevant SANS codes and international standards, liaising with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities, and contributing to project management and cost estimation. You will also be involved in site supervision during construction phases to ensure adherence to design specifications. The ideal candidate will hold a BEng or MEng degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering. Professional registration with ECSA is highly desirable. A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong portfolio of successfully completed projects, is required. Proficiency in geotechnical software packages (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio) is essential. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are mandatory.
