We are seeking a detail-oriented Civil Manager to serve as the Owner’s Representative for large utility-scale wind farm project located in Indiana. The Civil Manager will be responsible for monitoring subcontractor activities, verifying compliance with project specifications, and providing accurate reporting on the progress and quality of all civil construction work. This role is observational and documentation-focused, with no supervisory responsibilities over crews.
Must be available for 100% travel! Project duration estimated until end of 2027.
Responsibilities
- Act as the Owner’s on-site representative for all civil construction activities, including but not limited to:
- Wind turbine foundations
- Access roads and crane pads
- Trenching and backfilling
- Stormwater management systems and erosion control
- Laydown areas, culverts, and drainage structures
- Perform routine inspections to verify work is being executed in accordance with contract documents, drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Observe and document construction progress, including photographs and field notes, to ensure accurate project tracking.
- Prepare and submit daily field reports, inspection logs, and progress updates to the project team.
- Track subcontractor progress against project schedules and flag any deviations or potential delays.
- Identify and report any non-conforming work or safety concerns to the Construction Manager or QA/QC team.
- Attend progress meetings and provide technical input from the field perspective.
- Utilized Procore to track field performance, manage RFIs, and log quality observations across construction activities
- Collaborated daily with the Construction Manager to resolve construction issues, evaluate field changes, and support informed decision-making.
- Performed site inspections and documented compliance with environmental permits, stormwater protocols (QCIS, CESCL), and safety requirements.
- Contributed to turnover package reviews and field audits to verify built conditions against contract drawings and closeout documentation.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in civil inspection, field engineering, or quality control on large-scale infrastructure or renewable energy projects.
- Familiarity with wind farm construction practices and components is a plus.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles including concrete, grading, drainage, and earthwork.
- Experience interpreting civil plans, technical specifications, and construction drawings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for field documentation and reporting.
- Competent with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management or inspection software (e.g., Procore, SiteDocs) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently in remote outdoor environments, under varied weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour Construction Safety Certification
- Prior experience representing an owner or developer on large-scale energy projects
Compensation
- Strating from $48 an hour (DOE) + OT (1.5 rate)
- $100 per diem- 7 days a week
- Truck and fuel card
- $500 mobilization
Rotation: 4 days off each month with up to $500 expense reimbursement
