Role Description
Waiward Construction Management Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager/Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of the earthworks and civil construction industry, with experience supporting projects in the commercial and residential sectors.
This role is responsible for managing projects from estimation and bidding through to successful completion. Working closely with Operations and General Superintendents, the Project Manager/Estimator will play a key role in reviewing projects estimates, coordinating project execution, and ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the full civil construction project lifecycle and will collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate project estimates, bids, and proposals for civil and earthworks projects.
- Manage projects from inception through completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with Operations, General Superintendent, and project teams to plan and execute work.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Coordinate project schedules, resources, and subcontractors.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to leadership.
- Ensure projects comply with safety standards, company policies, and industry regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered an asset.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Project Manager and/or Estimator within the civil construction industry.
- Direct experience working in the oil and gas and earthworks sectors.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, drawings, estimating practices, and project management principles.
- Experience working on projects within Alberta and familiarity with the regional construction environment.
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail and a high level of professionalism.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
