SMX is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Data Analyst to join our team. This role focuses on creating and maintaining efficient data processing systems and pipelines to support strategic decision‑making and business operations. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable and scalable back‑end data solutions. This is a full‑time position requiring on‑site work four days a week at a client’s office in Washington, D.C. An active Top‑Secret clearance is mandatory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, integrating data from various sources to ensure reliable and efficient processing.
- Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using tools such as Apache Airflow, AWS Glue, Informatica, or similar technologies.
- Manage and optimize database operations, leveraging SQL and working with modern data warehousing platforms such as AWS Redshift.
- Collaborate with data analysts and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into robust back‑end solutions.
- Create scalable and efficient data architectures, ensuring performance optimization and data integrity.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of data processes to maintain high data quality and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data‑related issues to ensure uninterrupted business operations.
- Document data processes, workflows, and solutions for knowledge sharing and team collaboration.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering and development.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of data analysis experience
- Proficiency in SQL and a strong understanding of database systems.
- Experience with ETL and data orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, AWS Glue, or Informatica.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and services, particularly AWS.
- Knowledge of data warehousing and data integration techniques.
- Strong understanding of data processing and performance optimization.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Business Analytics.
Desired Skills/Experience
- Experience with federal data modernization or analytics programs.
- This position requires four days a week on site at customer location in Washington DC.

Salary
The proposed salary for this position is:
$79,600 – $133,800 USD
