About the role
You'll support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and security of UTP’s cloud services, infrastructure, and end-user systems. This role provides technical support for Microsoft 365, SaaS platforms, workstations, and related technologies, while assisting with infrastructure administration and continuous improvement of IT services.
Salary Range $62,000 - $68,000

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first and second level support for end users experiencing hardware, software, connectivity, and access issues across workstations, mobile devices, and supported applications.
- Assist with the setup, configuration, deployment, and replacement of workstations, peripherals, servers, and networking equipment.
- Support the administration and maintenance of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, and other SaaS platforms, including user account provisioning, access changes, MFA, and group membership updates.
- Monitor the health and performance of network, server, cloud, and SaaS environments, and escalate issues to senior IT staff or vendors as required.
- Assist with routine administration of networking infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, wireless access points, VPN connectivity, and VLAN-related changes under the guidance of the IT team.
- Support security operations by reviewing alerts, assisting with endpoint protection administration, investigating reported issues, and escalating potential threats or incidents appropriately.
- Assist the team with compliance-related activities, including security reviews, documentation updates, audit preparation, remediation tracking, and user awareness initiatives such as phishing campaigns.
- Perform routine operational tasks such as account maintenance, patch coordination, system checks, backup verification, device inventory updates, and documentation of procedures and configurations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve workstation, application, and basic infrastructure issues, and coordinate with internal teams or external vendors for more complex problems.
- Contribute to IT service improvements by identifying recurring issues, suggesting process enhancements, and supporting the implementation of new tools, automation, and standardization efforts.
- Provide support for backup, recovery, and business continuity processes by assisting with job monitoring, reporting failures, and helping validate successful completion.
- Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives that support the ongoing development of UTP’s cloud and infrastructure environment.
Education, Qualifications and Experience:
- Post-secondary degree in Information Technology or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in IT support, desktop support, or systems support.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Windows devices, user accounts, and common business applications.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled productivity tools and workflows, and an interest in applying emerging technologies to improve IT support, documentation, and operational efficiency.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365 and Azure, and familiarity with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell or Power Automate, is an asset.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Professional, CCNA or A+ are a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
- Working knowledge of DNS, SFTP, and Active Directory/Entra ID.
- Good understanding of security best practices, including MFA, endpoint protection, access control, and safe computing practices.
- Familiarity with Windows endpoint support and basic administration; exposure to Linux environments is an asset.
- Experience using command-line and terminal tools for basic troubleshooting and administrative tasks.
- Awareness of emerging AI tools and workflows, with the ability to apply them thoughtfully and responsibly in a support and operations environment.
- Solid understanding of personal computer hardware, peripherals, and network devices.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
