Cloud Application Engineer Senior

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Application Engineer for a contract role that can transition to full-time. This position requires 8+ years of experience and involves working onsite in Toronto, ON for 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Designed, developed, and modernized cloud-native applications on Azure and GCP
• Collaborated with cross-functional teams on application modernization strategies
• Developed and maintained APIs, backend services, and full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, and TypeScript
• Implemented CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions
• Work with Kubernetes and Docker for container orchestration
• Implemented Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and policy-as-code frameworks such as OPA/Rego and Sentinel
• Integrated observability, logging, monitoring, distributed tracing, and SLO/SLI frameworks
• Ensured cloud security, governance, and compliance automation
• Supported cloud migration initiatives including 6Rs modernization strategies
• Participated in Agile and SAFe delivery processes

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in cloud application engineering
• Experience with Azure and GCP
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and TypeScript
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and GitHub Actions
• Experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes and Docker
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and policy-as-code frameworks (OPA/Rego, Sentinel)
• Experience with observability, logging, monitoring, and distributed tracing frameworks
• Knowledge of cloud security, governance, and compliance automation
• Experience with cloud migration initiatives and modernization strategies
• Familiarity with Agile and SAFe delivery processes

Contract Details

• Contract Duration: 6 months
• Ideal Candidate Rate: CAD 75-80/Hr (Depending on experience)
