About
SMX is seeking a Cloud Automation Engineer to support our customer onsite at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in southern Maryland.
This individual will bring a passion for technology, a strong technical skill set, and an ability to deploy Production-ready solutions, software and tools for our Department of Defense (DoD) customers.
The Cloud Engineer is a very hands-on individual and will help lead engagements for our customers. Ideal candidates have consulting-relevant experience including: conducting structured quantitative and qualitative analysis, developing cloud strategies, project management, and consultative, collaborative problem-solving.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist team members in the development and deployment of environments for our customers
- Be involved at all stages of a project including:
- Requirements capture and assessment
- Cloud services deployment
- Security and compliance
- Systems engineering and operational readiness
- Apply a business and technology-focused model for delivering IT services in a utility-like fashion
Required Skills & Experience
- Clearance Required: Top Secret
- Security+ or another comparable certification for compliance with DoD 8140
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- In lieu of degree, high-level Cloud Certs (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Associate Cloud Engineer) may be considered
- 2+ years leveraging AWS platform services in a hands-on capacity
- 2+ years working in a software development centric role
- Experience with DoD frameworks, e.g.: DISA STIGs, DISA PPSM, RMF
- Familiarity with DoD PKI standards
- Experience automating Production-ready infrastructure and software defined networks with Terraform
- Experience in automation of virtual host configuration using one infrastructure configuration management / provisioning platform (Ansible preferred, but Chef or Puppet acceptable)
- Working knowledge of both Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows
- Basic experience with operating system scripting languages (e.g.: Bash, PowerShell)
- Basic understanding of developing / working with APIs
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate within a structured, delivery-centric professional services team
Desired Skills & Experience
- Proof of active AWS Solution Architect Associate, Professional or specialty-track certification desired
- Experience with operation in Commercial Cloud Environment Software Defined Networks (SDN) - Azure and AWS preferred
- Experience in DoD Navy networks preferred

The proposed salary for this position is: $87,700-$146,100 USD
