About the role

Job Summary

P3SG is seeking a senior‑level Cloud Engineer (Advisor) to support large‑scale, mission‑critical cloud environments for a regulated financial services client. This role requires deep hands‑on cloud engineering experience combined with advisory‑level expertise in architecture, security, and cloud modernisation.

The Cloud Engineer will partner closely with engineering, security, and business teams to design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and compliant cloud solutions, with a strong focus on financial services and regulatory environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and provide advisory guidance on scalable, secure cloud architectures using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Build, deploy, and maintain cloud environments on AWS (preferred) or Azure
  • Lead migration of legacy systems to cloud‑native and microservices‑based architectures
  • Develop and optimise automation and CI/CD pipelines for cloud infrastructure
  • Ensure cloud environments meet financial regulatory requirements and security standards (IAM, encryption, governance)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud‑related performance and connectivity issues
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including development, security, and operations
  • Monitor, manage, and optimise cloud costs with a focus on FinOps best practices
  • Provide technical leadership and recommendations for cloud strategy and improvement

Required Qualifications

  • 13–15+ years of overall experience in Infrastructure or Cloud Engineering
  • Recent and proven experience in Banking, Finance, or Mortgage technology (mandatory)
  • Strong expertise with AWS (preferred) or Azure cloud platforms
  • Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or similar
  • Strong working knowledge of Kubernetes (EKS/AKS) and Docker
  • Proficiency in Python, Bash, or Go for automation and scripting
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments with strict security and compliance requirements
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment (Reston, VA)
  • Visa‑independent candidates only

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mortgage or large financial enterprise experience
  • Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Architect Expert, or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of cloud governance, security frameworks, and cost optimisation
  • Experience serving in an advisory or senior architect capacity
