Cloud Network Engineer

About

The Cloud Network Engineer will support the design, deployment, and ongoing operation of cloud-based infrastructure. This role will help connect on-premises environments with cloud networking platforms, extending cloud capabilities into data centre infrastructure. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing automation solutions that support operational teams and improve overall efficiency.

Main Responsibilities

• Support network requirements for cloud operations, including connectivity and integration with various Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms. These may include GitLab, Jama, Jira, Confluence, Workday, and Salesforce.
• Continuously assess cloud applications, architecture, and industry best practices.
• Recommend, design, implement, and maintain Azure networking solutions, including hybrid networking, connectivity, routing, security, and private access to Azure services.
• Deploy networking solutions using the Azure Portal as well as tools such as PowerShell, Terraform, Azure CLI, and Azure ARM templates.
• Work closely with solution architects, application developers, cloud administrators, cybersecurity teams, and DevOps engineers to deliver Azure-based solutions.
• Monitor network performance, availability, and security, and review existing network designs for improvement opportunities.
• Apply and maintain cloud security best practices across the environment.
• Deploy and support cloud, WAN, LAN, wireless, voice, and video network solutions, including servers, routers, switches, gateways, and related hardware.
• Communicate and coordinate maintenance activities, network status updates, and downtime notifications to users and management in accordance with established change management processes.
• Develop metrics, monitoring, and visibility tools to support SRE, operations, and support functions.

Education & Experience Required

• Extensive experience with Azure administration, including hybrid connectivity and network security.
• Experience working within Kubernetes networking environments is required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience implementing and operating enterprise networking and data centre environments, including switches, load balancers, and firewalls.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience in the deployment, management, and automation of cloud-based networking.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• In addition to strong Azure experience, exposure to troubleshooting other cloud networking environments such as AWS and GCP would be considered an asset.

Specialized Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Experience designing and operating large-scale, highly available, and fault-tolerant network infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of Linux administration, with practical hands-on experience.
• Experience using scripting and automation tools to build infrastructure, including Bash, Python, and Terraform.
• Detailed knowledge of both physical and virtual network appliances, including Cisco, Fortinet, and/or Palo Alto technologies.
• Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles is considered an asset.
• Candidates must be willing to work onsite four (4) days per week.

Salary Range

$110,000 - $130,000
