About the role

Position Overview

The Cloud Software Engineer will support mission-focused data analytics initiatives by developing scalable solutions to extract meaning and value from structured and unstructured data. This role involves leveraging statistical methods and machine learning techniques to identify patterns, behaviors, and insights across diverse datasets. The engineer will collaborate with customer teams and cross-functional stakeholders to design data-driven solutions, develop ingestion and characterization strategies, and present insights through visualization tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cloud-based data processing and analytics solutions
  • Develop strategies to extract insights from structured and unstructured data
  • Apply statistical and/or machine learning methods to identify patterns and trends
  • Build and maintain data ingestion, transformation, and enrichment pipelines
  • Develop methodologies for automated data characterization and metadata analysis
  • Utilize query and visualization tools (e.g., DataXplorer, GMAE) to present insights
  • Analyze and define requirements for new and existing data types
  • Collaborate with mission stakeholders to align technical solutions with operational needs

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
    • Substitution: Four (4) additional years of Software Engineering experience on similar projects may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
  • Eight (8) years of Software Engineering experience
    • Alternative: Twelve (12) years of experience without a degree

Required Technical Skills

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Scala
  • Experience with big data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Pig, MapReduce, Apache Spark)
  • Strong knowledge of structured data formats (XML, CSV, JSON)
  • Experience with data enrichment and data conversion methods
  • Familiarity with data ontologies and schema design
  • Experience working with databases and large-scale data systems
  • Cloud Developer Certification (required; will be verified during interview process)

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Java and Python for analytics development
  • Familiarity with Apache NiFi for data flow automation
  • Experience with data visualization and query tools (e.g., DataXplorer, GMAE)
  • Understanding of machine learning workflows and analytical modeling
  • Experience working in cloud-based environments supporting data platforms
