About the Role
The Cloud Solution Architect – Application Enablement is a high-impact, "Player-Coach" role dedicated to the technical evolution of our enterprise ecosystem. You will lead the charge in Application Modernization, serving as the primary architect for cloud migration strategies and innovative solution design.
This role requires a visionary who can look at a monolithic legacy system and see a future-state microservices architecture. You will bridge the gap between business intent and technical execution, ensuring our applications are scalable, resilient, and optimized for the modern cloud.
Key Responsibility Pillars
1. Strategic Application Modernization
- Legacy Transformation: Conduct deep-dive assessments of legacy debt to identify high-impact opportunities for refactoring, re-architecting, or full-scale replacement.
- Roadmap Ownership: Partner with executive stakeholders to align technical debt reduction with long-term business profitability and agility.
- DevSecOps Advocacy: Champion the adoption of modern engineering practices, including CI/CD automation, microservices, and API-first design.
2. Cloud Migration & Execution Leadership
- Migration Frameworks: Design and execute "6-R" migration strategies (Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, etc.) that prioritize zero-downtime and performance optimization.
- Platform Expertise: Lead cross-functional migrations to major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP), ensuring seamless integration with security and infrastructure teams.
- FinOps & Optimization: Implement rigorous cloud cost management practices to ensure architectural decisions remain fiscally sustainable.
3. Solution Architecture & Governance
- End-to-End Design: Architect cloud-native solutions that serve as "blueprints" for the engineering teams, focusing on high availability and security.
- Technical Governance: Define and document technical standards and "Solution Building Blocks" (SBBs) to ensure consistency across the enterprise.
- Security by Design: Ensure all modernized applications comply with NIST, ISO, or industry-specific regulatory standards.
4. Mentorship & Stakeholder Influence
- Technical Mentorship: Lead and upskill a team of engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and architectural curiosity.
- Liaison Excellence: Translate complex cloud concepts into business-value language for non-technical product owners and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Experience: 8+ years in IT, with at least 3+ years in a dedicated leadership role focused on application modernization and cloud-native migration.
- Cloud Proficiency: Advanced experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and associated serverless/container technologies.
- Orchestration: Deep expertise in Docker, Kubernetes (AKS/EKS/GKE), and managing distributed microservices.
- Methodology: Expert-level understanding of Agile, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (Master’s preferred).
