About the role

About Cardinal Health

Cardinal Health, a leader in healthcare innovation, is looking for a dynamic Cloud Solutions Engineer to advance the development of our enterprise-wide cloud and CI/CD platforms. Our multi-cloud, multi-tenant environments facilitate thousands of developers across countless teams, handling mission-critical workloads in IaaS, PaaS, and CaaS models.

As part of the Serverless Platforms Team, you will be crucial in designing, building, operating, and enhancing our cloud-native and CI/CD platforms, featuring Kubernetes, serverless runtimes, and the enterprise Harness CI/CD system. You will collaborate with application teams, security partners, and platform stakeholders to establish secure, scalable, and repeatable deployment patterns that leverage GitOps, infrastructure as code, and modern DevSecOps practices.

With a solid foundation in cloud-native development and platform engineering, your goal will be to ensure our platforms are reliable, well-governed, and user-friendly, while promoting a culture of technical excellence, automation, and continuous enhancement. If you are driven by a passion for Kubernetes, CI/CD technologies, and solving complex platform-scale challenges, we invite you to join us in shaping the future of healthcare technology.

Job Summary

In your role as a Cloud Solutions Engineer, you will focus on the design, deployment, and support of containerized and serverless platforms on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), while managing the enterprise Harness CI/CD platform. Your work will enable application teams to build, test, and deploy software through streamlined, secure, and scalable pipelines, ensuring platform reliability, compliance, and an excellent developer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters and workloads on GKE utilizing Infrastructure as Code and GitOps methodologies.
  • Operate and maintain the enterprise Harness CI/CD platform to ensure the availability, reliability, and consistency of developer experiences across teams.
  • Create and update standardized Harness pipeline templates for build, test, security scanning, and deployment to Kubernetes and serverless environments.
  • Work alongside application teams to onboard services to Harness, offering guidance, problem resolution, and best practice enablement.
  • Integrate CI/CD pipelines with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform) and GitOps solutions (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux) for repeatable and traceable deployments.
  • Incorporate security and compliance controls into CI/CD workflows, ensuring adherence to HIPAA, SOX, and enterprise security requirements through vulnerability scanning and policy enforcement.
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps and Application Security teams to enhance security measures within the SDLC, utilizing tools such as Trivy, Aqua, or similar scanning solutions integrated into Harness pipelines.
  • Monitor platform health, pipeline execution, and application performance with monitoring tools like Dynatrace and Prometheus; conduct root cause analysis and manage incident resolution.
  • Engage in code and pipeline reviews, setting platform standards and ensuring compliance with engineering best practices.
  • Implement governance and guardrails for the platform using policy-as-code approaches to maintain consistency, observability, and compliance across environments.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between the Serverless Platforms Team and partner organizations, translating business needs into scalable platform capabilities.
  • Communicate updates regarding platform changes, incident statuses, and best practices through clear documentation, runbooks, and stakeholder updates; facilitate sessions to align goals and remove barriers to delivery.
  • Keep abreast of developments in cloud-native and CI/CD trends, contributing to the ongoing evolution of Cardinal Health's cloud and DevOps strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of cloud engineering experience with a strong emphasis on Kubernetes and GCP (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms is essential, ideally in an enterprise environment using Harness CI/CD.
  • Strong knowledge of microservices, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems is preferred.
  • Experience with GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, and automated delivery pipelines is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, security scanning, and compliance requirements in regulated contexts is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical and security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, influencing outcomes through documentation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the capability to function effectively in complex and evolving environments.
