The Amt für Informatik (AFI) is the IT competence center of the Canton of Zurich. It provides comprehensive services in the area of central IT infrastructure and cantonal applications. Tasked with implementing the "Information and Communication Technology (ICT)" strategy, the office supports the canton in the digital world.

Our cloud platform is growing rapidly: With increasing Azure, Power Platform, and automation projects, we are looking for you as a Cloud System Engineer to further develop, automate, and operate our Microsoft Azure environment with high availability.

Responsibilities

• Development and operation of our Microsoft Azure cloud platform (IaaS/PaaS) – sustainable and stable
• Support for cloud onboardings and migrations into the Azure environment with a focus on the Power Platform
• Conception of Azure solution architectures and active support in their implementation in the ICT landscape
• Automation and optimization of installation, transition, and operation processes (e.g., using scripting)
• Handling of 2nd and 3rd level incidents and participation in incident, problem, and change management (ITSM)
• Ensuring stable operation, including carrying out recovery and restart procedures for Azure services
• Testing and integration of cloud data and application solutions in compliance with security and platform specifications
• Support with DR/BCM measures and provider reviews
• Close collaboration with engineers, architects, and specialist departments from various departments and directorates

Qualifications

• Higher education degree at tertiary level in computer science or equivalent qualification
• Several years of professional experience in cloud engineering and operation (ideally experience with the Power Platform)
• Very good knowledge of Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS); basic knowledge of AWS or Google Cloud is an advantage
• Experience in operation (monitoring, stability, security) as well as in architecture design and ITSM processes
• Confident handling of development with DevOps methods and scripting/automation (e.g., Bicep)
• Advantageous: Microsoft certifications in the Azure area
• Very good German and English skills
• Willingness to participate in on-call duty
