About
The Property Accountant will be responsible for all accounting activities on assigned properties including CAM, Tax and Insurance reconciliations, lease maintenance, and monthly financial reporting. Exercises considerable discretion and independent judgment in managing the flow of work within the area of responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Perform month-end closing procedures.
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly property financial statements
- Calculate annual CAM, property tax and insurance recoveries.
- Review lease agreements and set up new lease records in Yardi to include setting up the operating expense recovery schedules and communicating with different internal teams to ensure appropriate lease terms/amounts are input accurately
- Perform cash management functions including but not limited to monitor cash balances and reconciling bank accounts.
- Prepare and ensure the accuracy of journal entries and general ledger.
- Preparation of annual operating budgets.
- Calculation and payment of monthly management fees
- Review and ensure Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable are processed correctly
- Assist with the setting up of new projects with guidance from the Accounting Manager.
Minimum Requirements
- Three or more years full charge booking/accounting experience in commercial real estate.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word Real Estate software experience.
- Yardi Voyager preferred but not necessary.
- Must be able to prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
