M&G Investments is looking for a Communications Manager to join our fast-paced, industry-leading marketing team.

Armed with skills in both traditional and new-generations media, the successful candidate will work with the Marketing Manager and key internal sector stakeholders to generate standout content for current and potential M&G investors across the institutional, wholesale, and retail markets.

This role combines strong editorial capability with sound judgement, stakeholder engagement and accountability for communications outcomes.

Content will range from portfolio management commentary and industry thought leadership to audience-specific articles, personal finance content, media commentary and event communications.

The candidate will need to have a strong writing and editing background, with a journalistic approach to research, interviewing subject-matter experts and clearly translating complex ideas for defined audiences.

The role requires confidence in prioritisation, decision-making and sign-off, particularly in a regulated financial services environment.

The Communications Manager will have a communications specialist reporting into them.

We are looking for a writer with experience in financial services, asset management in particular, but will not discount candidates with proven capability across related financial services industries.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy, Governance & Accountability

  • In conjunction with the Marketing Manager, develop and implement a communications strategy aligned to marketing and broader business objectives.
  • Take accountability for final communications decisions within agreed governance frameworks, ensuring outputs serve business objectives, timelines and reputational considerations.
  • Written reporting to various forums including distribution and exco forums.
  • Ensure all communications meet regulatory, compliance and brand governance requirements, escalating risks where appropriate.
  • Manage the Communications function with oversight from the Marketing Manager.
  • Lead the development of high-quality content across multiple formats including articles, infographics, video scripts, emailers, podcasts and event communications.
  • Ensure high standards of language, clarity and consistent tonality across all communications in line with brand guidelines.
  • Coordinate, write and edit quarterly fund commentary, ensuring delivery within agreed deadlines.
  • Repurpose content across formats and channels with support from the broader marketing team.

Stakeholder & Internal Engagement

  • Act as a trusted communications advisor to senior internal stakeholders, providing guidance, challenge and recommendations to shape effective outcomes.
  • Lead and oversee internal communications, ensuring clarity, consistency and alignment with leadership messaging and business priorities.
  • Work with internal and external communications partners to deliver content across channels.
  • Develop a monthly content plan aligned to the communications strategy.
  • Determine appropriate channels and formats for different audiences, ensuring communications are targeted and effective.
  • Support segmented email campaigns, measure results and optimise messaging and distribution accordingly.
  • Assist the Digital Marketing Manager with maintaining website content, ensuring accuracy, relevance and freshness.
  • Research and monitor brand health and communications performance, identifying insights and areas for improvement using available tools.

PR

  • Drive PR with leading publications that can aid brand awareness and consideration.
  • Own the PR calendar and together with comms specialist, ensure that PR is maximised.
  • Report on M&G's media presence for internal committees and boards.

Management

  • Manage the communications specialist on day-to-day delivery
  • Lead, coach and develop the Communications Specialist, providing clear direction, feedback and quality oversight.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Marketing or Journalism qualification, preferably combined with Economics / Investment Management or related qualification.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in a similar or related communications role.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in asset management and/or financial services.
  • Excellent written and editorial skills, with strong command of financial language.
  • Calm under pressure and able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Enjoy working in a marketing team environment.
  • Numerically strong with the ability to interpret and communicate data.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities within a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and confidence in decision-making, particularly in ambiguous or fast-paced situations.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a communications specialist.
