About
Through Leading Youth Through Empowerment, the Community Advocacy Specialist will support the ACLU DE's organizational efforts to strengthen systems for community intake, research, issue tracking, and policy analysis. Working alongside staff, the AmeriCorps member will help improve how community concerns are documented, organized, and reviewed in order to strengthen the organization’s ability to respond effectively to emerging issues affecting Delaware communities. The member will conduct background research, prepare written summaries, and help organize information gathered through community outreach and intake. They will assist in identifying recurring themes, tracking trends, and developing internal resources that support advocacy planning, public education, and community engagement efforts. The member will also contribute research related to state policy and legislative developments affecting Delaware residents and help prepare issue briefs, research summaries, and informational materials for internal use. This is a capacity-building position focused on strengthening organizational infrastructure, improving internal systems, and expanding the organization’s long-term ability to serve communities. The member will not provide legal advice, legal representation, or direct client services.
Member Duties
- Conduct background research and prepare written summaries that support review of community concerns received through outreach and intake.
- Help identify recurring themes, emerging issues, and patterns in community inquiries that may inform organizational priorities and advocacy planning.
- Support community intake processes by helping document community experiences and organize information for internal review and follow-up.
- Contribute to the development of issue briefs, informational materials, and research summaries that support public education and organizational planning.
- Help improve internal systems for organizing, tracking, and managing intake information, research materials, and issue trends.
