About
As a Financial Analyst in the Northeast Region, you will provide analytical and accounting support to a box plants complex and contribute to analytical efforts at the PA/NY Strategic Business Unit level.
You'll work closely with the Complex Controller, plant management, and cross‑functional teams — turning operational and financial data into insights that help the business make better decisions on costs, margins, capital investments, and performance. It's a role where you'll see how the numbers connect to what actually happens on the plant floor.
This is a great fit for someone who wants real exposure to manufacturing operations and aspires to grow beyond an analyst role within IP's finance organization. The role includes up to 25% travel, offering exposure to different facilities, teams, and operating environments across the region.
The key accountabilities listed below are not all‑inclusive and may include additional tasks based on evolving business needs.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside plant management, supply chain, and production teams to understand what's driving results and spot cost‑saving opportunities.
- Serve as a regional resource and step in to support sister facilities when needed.
- Champion safety in your day‑to‑day work and lead by example.
- Analyze operating performance and recommend actions to improve results.
- Work in partnership and if needed under the guidance of the Controller to prepare and analyze operational results, trends, customer profitability, capital projects, incentive plans, budgeting & forecasting, and special projects.
- Own regular and ad hoc financial reporting, making sure the right insights reach the right people on time.
- Bring financial perspective to production initiatives, inventory management, and capacity utilization discussions.
- Support root cause countermeasure analysis, improvement initiative tracking, and monthly business review preparation.
- Step in on hands‑on accounting work as needed — whether that's supporting payroll exception analysis done by central teams, investigating accrual topics, or resolving accounting questions that don't fit neatly into one box.
- Leverage SAP and other enterprise systems for research and analysis. Look for ways to improve reporting tools and automate recurring analytical work — less time on manual effort, more time on insight.
- Stay current on financial policies and capital investment manuals, and help the broader team understand and apply them correctly.
- Support the Controller in maintaining strong internal controls and adherence to company policies.
- Spot control weaknesses early and help implement solutions.
- Support financial audits and compliance reviews.Participate in month‑end close and prepare journal vouchers.
