Compliance Officer

Role Overview

Lead the execution of the compliance strategy and monitoring plan, ensuring the organisation operates within a rigorous legal, regulatory and governance framework. The role demands strong legislative insight, disciplined oversight, and the ability to influence compliance culture across the business.

Key Requirement

• Bachelor’s degree in Commercial, Risk, Audit, Legal, Business or related field
• Postgraduate Compliance Management or Legal qualification preferred
• 2–5 years’ compliance experience, within healthcare or financial services
• Strong knowledge of the Medical Schemes Act, CMS standards, insurance and financial services legislation
• Proven engagement with the Council for Medical Schemes
• Exposure to compliance risk management frameworks and regulatory interpretation

Strategic Responsibilities

• Execute the Compliance Monitoring Plan and deliver assurance on regulatory adherence
• Monitor legislative developments and drive timely policy updates
• Provide authoritative regulatory advice to business leaders
• Lead compliance training, induction and awareness initiatives
• Conduct compliance reviews, audits and breach management processes
• Support statutory submissions, licensing applications and CMS accreditation
• Maintain compliance registers, reporting frameworks and governance records
• Prepare high‑quality compliance reports, insights and regulatory communication
