About the role

ROLE

The Computer Systems Engineer/Architect shall provide technical engineering, data validation, and Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) support in alignment with SEC program objectives. In this role, you will perform system analysis and software QA, process and validate structured data, develop SQL scripts and Python automation, support data engineering workflows, and prepare formal technical documentation all within AWS and Linux-based environments in support of government stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system analysis, verification, and validation across software and data workflows supporting IV&V activities.
  • Conduct software QA, functional/regression/system testing, and defect evaluation.
  • Process and validate structured and semi‑structured data (XML, JSON, delimited, fixed‑width).
  • Develop SQL scripts and tests for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and Iceberg environments.
  • Support data engineering processes, ETL/ELT workflows, and data quality assessments.
  • Build and maintain automation and validation scripts using Python.
  • Operate within AWS environments and support cloud‑based testing activities.
  • Utilize Linux, CLI tools, and GitHub for version control and development workflows.
  • Prepare formal technical documentation and communicate findings to government stakeholders.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in software QA, test engineering, test automation, and data engineering.
  • Strong proficiency with XML, JSON, CSV, delimited, and fixed‑width data formats.
  • Skilled in SQL and experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and Iceberg databases.
  • Practical experience with Python for scripting and automation.
  • Hands‑on experience working within AWS environments.
  • Proficiency in Linux, command‑line operations, and GitHub repositories.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in multi‑disciplinary technical environments.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and structured problem‑solving skills.

LOCATION:

  • Washington, DC (on-site).

CLEARANCE:

  • U.S. citizenship required. Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.

CLIENT:

  • Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

WORK HOURS:

  • 40 hours per week / 8 hours per day.

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION:

  • Employment Classification Eligibility – W2.

RELOCATION:

  • Not eligible for relocation benefits.

COMPENSATION:

  • The annual salary range for this position is $140,000 – $150,000.
