Role Overview

The Construction and Engineering Manager leads the technical and construction execution of Spacemould projects from engineering development through site delivery.

The role bridges design development and construction execution, ensuring that architectural intent, structural integrity and construction efficiency are aligned throughout the project lifecycle.

In addition to overseeing construction operations, the role is responsible for developing and coordinating structural drawings, providing engineering input during design development and ensuring that all structural systems are practical, efficient and buildable.

Key Responsibilities

Structural Design and Engineering Coordination • Prepare and develop structural drawings for building projects in coordination with the architectural design team. • Perform structural design calculations and ensure structural systems meet required engineering standards. • Coordinate structural drawings with architectural and MEP documentation to ensure technical compatibility. • Provide engineering solutions to structural challenges during both design development and construction stages. • Ensure structural integrity and compliance with applicable engineering standards and building codes.

Construction Leadership • Lead construction execution from project mobilization through completion and project handover. • Translate architectural and engineering drawings into clear construction methodologies. • Supervise site teams, contractors and subcontractors to ensure efficient execution. • Ensure projects are delivered within schedule, scope and approved specifications.

Construction Planning and Project Management • Develop construction schedules and implementation strategies for projects. • Monitor site progress and coordinate labour, materials and subcontractor activities. • Maintain structured reporting on project milestones, technical issues and site performance. • Identify and resolve operational or technical challenges during construction.

Technical Review and Buildability • Review design drawings to ensure constructability before project execution. • Identify potential construction risks and propose engineering solutions early in the process. • Optimize structural systems and construction methods for efficiency and cost effectiveness. • Provide technical guidance during structural works including reinforcement detailing, formwork systems and concrete works.

Quality Assurance and Site Standards • Implement QA/QC procedures across structural and construction activities. • Ensure structural works are executed according to approved drawings and engineering specifications. • Monitor materials, workmanship and installations to maintain high quality standards.Conduct technical inspections during critical construction stages.

Budget Monitoring and Cost Control • Work closely with quantity surveyors to track project costs and maintain financial discipline. • Support value engineering and construction optimization where appropriate. • Monitor procurement and labour costs to maintain budget alignment.

Health, Safety and Compliance • Enforce site safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements. • Ensure construction activities follow approved engineering and safety procedures. • Maintain documentation related to inspections, approvals and technical compliance.

Required Skills and Competencies • Strong structural engineering and construction management capability. • Ability to develop structural drawings and reinforcement detailing. • Deep understanding of construction methods, materials and engineering systems. • Strong planning, scheduling and operational management skills. • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams including architects, engineers, quantity surveyors and contractors. • Strong contract administration and procurement coordination capability. • Ability to maintain quality control while managing construction efficiency. • Proficiency in engineering and construction related design software.

Qualifications • Master’s Degree (MSc) in Civil Engineering. • Registered with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). • Membership of relevant professional bodies such as the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE), or other recognized engineering institutions.

Experience • Minimum of 10 years experience in construction engineering, structural design or project delivery. • Demonstrated experience managing residential, commercial or infrastructure construction projects. • Experience working across structural construction and interior fit out stages of development is highly desirable.
