About Our Client

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Construction Project Manager to oversee diverse construction projects in and around Kano, Kano, NG. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects, managing resources, coordinating with stakeholders, and mitigating risks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project plans, including scope, budget, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Manage all phases of construction projects, from planning and design to execution and handover.
  • Coordinate and supervise all on-site activities, including subcontractors, suppliers, and labor.
  • Ensure strict adherence to building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or delays, and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage project budgets, track expenses, and approve invoices.
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Resolve conflicts and address issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Implement and enforce site safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Manage change orders and ensure they are properly documented and approved.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
  • Oversee procurement of materials and equipment.
  • Ensure all project documentation is accurate and up-to-date.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in construction project management.
  • Demonstrated success in managing large-scale construction projects from start to finish.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and building codes.
  • Strong understanding of project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and techniques.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and control costs effectively.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience in managing diverse teams and subcontractors.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Professional certification (e.g., PMP, RICS) is a plus.
  • Must be able to work on-site daily in Kano.
  • This role requires a hands-on approach and a strong presence on the construction site.
