TAG Refrigeration, a TAG company is seeking a Project Manager for commercial and supermarket refrigeration work in and around the Jurupa Valley, CA area.
The Project Manager is responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings for construction projects. The Project Manager plans and oversees the building process of various construction projects from start to finish and ensures they are completed in a timely and efficient manner. Responsible for scope, schedule, sequence of operations, submittals and budget of assigned projects.
Essential Functions • Plans all phases of the construction lifecycle from initiation to completion • Formulates bids and devises plan for project execution • Able to recognize and submit change order request • Communicate with existing and new customers to provide a quality product with integrity for work ranging from mid-size jobs to large installation projects • Preparing work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements, setting priorities • Solicits and maintains communication with subcontractors and vendors • Evaluates offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements • Performs take offs of blueprints and accurate job costing to ensure all costs and requirements are met for project installs • Obtains and review submittals for review of unit change out and retrofits • Perform job walks and site surveys for assigned projects • Communicates with clients and delivers timely status reports • Obtain project close out documentation per spec • Maintains quality service by following organizational standards • Maintains continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs • Visit sites and record information regarding customer schedules • Capable of managing multiple assigned projects • Learn and understand customer proprietary needs.
Other Functions • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements • High school diploma or GED. • Field experience in refrigeration industry – minimum 2 years, recommended. • Experience working with Project Management and/or Construction Management • Ability to read and interpret blueprints (Structural, architectural, electrical, and RS sheets) • Good understanding of the project financials, monthly billing, change orders and retention • Reading and understanding technical manuals and schematics • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, problem solving, and time-management skills • Experience of labor units needed and scheduling • Knowledge of local, state, and federal building code regulations and the permitting process • Ability to speak effectively with customers one-on-one • Knowledgeable in Microsoft programs such as Excel, word, and PowerPoint • Minimum 5+ years related experience and/or training in cost estimation or equivalent combination of experience and training highly recommended • Ability to multi-task and work with other departments within the organization
Physical Demands and Working Environment • Fast-paced environment • Work is performed in a standard office work environment, and field construction/retrofit sites
Working Conditions • Approximately 50% of duties performed are in a seated position. The employee must reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and an ability to adjust focus. • Approximately 50% of duties require field visits, and site walks. Familiarity with active construction sites, and related trade responsibilities. • Comfortable working in or around machine and equipment rooms. • Some travel may be required.
