Our client, a significant player in the pharmaceutical industry, operates a highly complex and strictly regulated production and infrastructure environment at the Basel/Kaiseraugst site. The Operate & Maintain Assets division ensures the reliable operation of the site, buildings, and technical facilities – guided by the principle:

To strengthen the Construction Site Services division, we are looking for an experienced individual in Construction/Site Management to act as a central interface between projects, engineering, and executing companies.

Your Role

In a team of approximately 12–15 specialists, you will take responsibility for the planning, management, coordination, and handover of construction site projects – with a focus on pipeline construction, utility systems, and process engineering facilities.

In the strictly regulated GMP environment, you will ensure that all construction activities meet the highest requirements for quality, safety, costs, deadlines, and documentation. Your work will make a significant contribution to operational safety and long-term plant availability.

This ETM-/Contract position was created as part of a succession plan for a central knowledge holder. The goal is the sustainable development of site- and service-specific knowledge in Kaiseraugst, with a clear prospect of permanent employment within 2–3 years, depending on performance and team integration.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Planning, organization, management, and coordination of construction sites
  • Supervision and management of external companies and their employees
  • Quality, cost, and deadline monitoring (focus on pipeline construction & utility systems)
  • Ensuring construction site safety according to internal guidelines
  • Reporting and close coordination with local engineering
  • Accompanying commissioning until full defect rectification
  • Structured handover of trades to the plant operator
  • Technical input for trade-specific planning (e.g., materials, manufacturers, execution details)
  • Participation in schedule and construction process planning during the CC phase
  • Review and evaluation of offers, specifications, and performance descriptions
  • Obtaining and comparing offers and target price quotations
  • Assisting with the awarding of contracts to executing companies
  • Review and examination of as-built and revision documents

Profile – Must Haves

  • Completed vocational training, ideally as a plant & apparatus builder, with further education (master craftsman, technician, or equivalent)
  • 5–10 years of professional experience in project or construction management of pipeline and utility systems
  • Basic knowledge in the GMP environment
  • Very good German language skills, both written and spoken
  • English and French skills are an advantage
  • Experience in construction site and work safety (e.g., SiGeKo, Safety Assistant, or similar)
  • Proficient in Google Suite and MS Office, SAP knowledge is an advantage

Nice to Haves

  • Basic knowledge in fire protection or corresponding HVAC training
  • Experience in construction site logistics
  • Basic knowledge in plant or building automation
  • Very good knowledge of process engineering installations, piping classes, norms, and standards
  • Experience with pharmaceutical documentation and systems (e.g., SAP, technical workstations, documentation tools)
