Our client, a leading global gold producer, is supporting a major multi-year capital expansion program at Detour Lake Mine and is hiring experienced Construction Supervisors to support site-based project execution.
These are long-term contract opportunities (minimum 3 years, likely longer) on a major brownfield capital program within an active operating mine environment.
- Location: Detour Lake Mine
- Rotation: 14 days on / 14 days off
- Project Type: Major capital expansion / brownfield mining construction
Roles Available
1) Construction Supervisor – (Civil / Building Envelope)
This role is focused on supervision of civil, structural, and building envelope construction activities supporting major site infrastructure packages.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise execution of civil, structural, and building envelope scopes
- Oversee works such as foundations, concrete, structural steel, cladding, roofing, and associated site civil works
- Coordinate site crews, subcontractors, and multiple trades
- Work alongside mechanical supervisors, resident engineers, and the broader construction team
- Ensure compliance with Ontario construction regulations and applicable TSSA requirements where relevant
Ideal background
- 10–15+ years of construction supervision experience
- Strong background in mining, industrial, or major infrastructure projects
- Candidates must come from heavy industrial environments — residential or light commercial backgrounds are not suitable
- Ontario mining and industrial project exposure is highly valued, including experience on projects such as Côté Gold, Rainy River Mine, or Vale operations
2) Construction Supervisor – (Mechanical)
This role is focused on frontline supervision of heavy mechanical installation works in a high-activity mining construction environment.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise field execution of mechanical construction scopes
- Oversee installation of conveyors, mechanical equipment, paste plant systems, piping, pumps, and related heavy mechanical infrastructure
- Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, and daily field activities
- Work closely with resident engineers and the broader construction group
- Ensure work is executed safely and in compliance with Ontario construction and mining requirements, including OH&S and applicable TSSA requirements
Ideal background
- 10–15+ years of construction supervision experience
- Strong background in mining or heavy industrial capital projects
- Must be able to step into the role immediately — this is not a training or step-up position
- Strong preference for candidates with experience on projects such as Côté Gold, Rainy River Mine, Moss Lake Project, or Vale operations in Sudbury
What both roles require
- Proven success on large, complex capital projects
- Experience working in active brownfield operating environments
- Strong knowledge of Ontario construction standards and site safety requirements
- Ability to work in a remote, fast-moving site environment with minimal handholding
- Ontario project experience is considered critical
