About the role

About

Our client, a leading global gold producer, is supporting a major multi-year capital expansion program at Detour Lake Mine and is hiring experienced Construction Supervisors to support site-based project execution.

These are long-term contract opportunities (minimum 3 years, likely longer) on a major brownfield capital program within an active operating mine environment.

  • Location: Detour Lake Mine
  • Rotation: 14 days on / 14 days off
  • Project Type: Major capital expansion / brownfield mining construction

Roles Available

1) Construction Supervisor – (Civil / Building Envelope)

This role is focused on supervision of civil, structural, and building envelope construction activities supporting major site infrastructure packages.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise execution of civil, structural, and building envelope scopes
  • Oversee works such as foundations, concrete, structural steel, cladding, roofing, and associated site civil works
  • Coordinate site crews, subcontractors, and multiple trades
  • Work alongside mechanical supervisors, resident engineers, and the broader construction team
  • Ensure compliance with Ontario construction regulations and applicable TSSA requirements where relevant

Ideal background

  • 10–15+ years of construction supervision experience
  • Strong background in mining, industrial, or major infrastructure projects
  • Candidates must come from heavy industrial environments — residential or light commercial backgrounds are not suitable
  • Ontario mining and industrial project exposure is highly valued, including experience on projects such as Côté Gold, Rainy River Mine, or Vale operations

2) Construction Supervisor – (Mechanical)

This role is focused on frontline supervision of heavy mechanical installation works in a high-activity mining construction environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise field execution of mechanical construction scopes
  • Oversee installation of conveyors, mechanical equipment, paste plant systems, piping, pumps, and related heavy mechanical infrastructure
  • Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, and daily field activities
  • Work closely with resident engineers and the broader construction group
  • Ensure work is executed safely and in compliance with Ontario construction and mining requirements, including OH&S and applicable TSSA requirements

Ideal background

  • 10–15+ years of construction supervision experience
  • Strong background in mining or heavy industrial capital projects
  • Must be able to step into the role immediately — this is not a training or step-up position
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience on projects such as Côté Gold, Rainy River Mine, Moss Lake Project, or Vale operations in Sudbury

What both roles require

  • Proven success on large, complex capital projects
  • Experience working in active brownfield operating environments
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario construction standards and site safety requirements
  • Ability to work in a remote, fast-moving site environment with minimal handholding
  • Ontario project experience is considered critical

If you have experience in mining construction supervision and are interested in a long-term opportunity on one of Ontario’s major capital mining programs, we’d be interested in speaking with you.
