Our growing client in Morris County is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to drive operational excellence across their manufacturing operations. Using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, the engineer leads data-driven initiatives and helps embed a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead plant-wide continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, throughput, and employee engagement
  • Identify inefficiencies and prevent recurrence using Lean, DMAIC, Kaizen, FMEA, SMED, root cause analysis, and TPM tools
  • Develop, maintain, and strengthen the site’s Continuous Improvement operating system, including standard work and problem-solving frameworks
  • Facilitate Kaizen events, 5S activities, and waste elimination initiatives to achieve performance targets
  • Conduct time studies, value stream mapping, capacity analysis, and cycle time analysis to identify bottlenecks and opportunities
  • Analyze performance data, measure results of improvement efforts, and implement corrective actions
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, process documentation, and visual management tools (KPIs, Tier boards, dashboards) to ensure sustainability
  • Support capital projects and process improvements aligned with operational goals
  • Train, coach, and mentor employees at all levels on Lean tools, problem-solving methods, and continuous improvement principles
  • Partner cross-functionally with production, engineering, maintenance, quality, and supply chain teams to prioritize and execute improvement projects
  • Track progress, prepare reports and dashboards, and communicate results to plant leadership

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt strongly preferred
  • 3–5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment driving continuous improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, or TPM initiatives
  • Proven success leading cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools (Excel, Minitab); experience building KPIs and visual metrics
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to influence stakeholders from plant leadership to frontline operators
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reasoning skills
  • Proficient with MS Office and project management tools; SAP experience a plus
