Contract Technical Writer – Digital Learning & Product Documentation

Location: Remote (India)
Duration: Long-term contract (approx. 12 months)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Writer to support the creation of in-platform learning materials and product documentation for a global software environment.

In this role, you will translate product demos, recordings, and SME inputs into clear, user‑friendly guides and video scripts. You’ll work across the full content lifecycle, from initial draft through review and final publishing, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and usability.

This is a hands‑on role suited for someone who is comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced, release‑driven environment.

What You’ll Do

Content Development

  • Create and update user guides with step‑by‑step instructions, screenshots, and troubleshooting notes
  • Develop video scripts aligned to screen recordings, including narration, on‑screen actions, and timing cues
  • Capture and annotate screen recordings to support documentation and video development

Information Gathering

  • Gather inputs from demos, recordings, SMEs, and product updates
  • Convert raw inputs into structured, task‑based documentation
  • Validate content for accuracy and alignment with product functionality

Review & Publishing Workflow

  • Manage content through defined review stages, incorporating feedback from multiple stakeholders
  • Track approvals, revisions, and final sign‑off
  • Prepare and package content for publishing within internal platforms or knowledge bases

Operational Management

  • Track progress, updates, risks, and dependencies using project management tools
  • Maintain consistency in terminology, formatting, and documentation standards
  • Identify and document product issues or gaps with clear reproduction steps

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of technical writing experience, ideally supporting software or digital platforms
  • Strong ability to translate demos and recordings into clear, task‑based documentation
  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills (structured formatting, styles, tables, visuals)
  • Experience capturing and annotating screens (e.g., SnagIt or similar tools)
  • Experience writing scripts for instructional or product videos
  • Proven ability to manage review cycles and incorporate stakeholder feedback
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies or defects
  • Clear, concise writing style with strong organizational skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with knowledge base or help center publishing workflows
  • Familiarity with agile environments and working with product teams
  • Basic image editing and content QA experience
  • Exposure to AI tools to support writing or workflow efficiency

Why This Role

You’ll be working on real product releases where your content directly supports user adoption and experience. This is a steady, long‑term engagement with consistent deliverables and clear impact.
